Changes to Youth for 2026 following 2025 surveys & youth update

13 Mar 2026

Welcome to the 2026 season!

We are always looking to improve. As a result we have listened to the end of season youth surveys.

60% of parents wanted to see cricket camps return. We will offer these this summer. It hard to find coaches who can also take a day off work to lead camps but we have a plan for this summer.

45% of parents wanted to see coaching extend into August and we will facilitate this. League games will also be on offer or the majority of squads. It is going to need support to deliver and plenty of coaching back-up.

55% wanted winter coaching and again we would love to offer this but it once more depends on more coaches qualifying to take the sessions.

The theme to this feedback is more coaching. Every one of our coaching team is a volunteer with a busy career. Each gives his/her giving time for free to offer coaching. Each is insured, DBS checked and qualified before even considering the commitment of coaching and running matches each week while balancing their own family life. We have a large pool of coaches but an even bigger one would enable breaks and shared duties. Some clubs outsource coaching but we focus on our facilities and having the best possible ones to learn cricket on.

If there are parents interested in doing the qualifications to lead coaching sessions, you will be refunded for the cost of the course and supported by other coaches. There are also membership discounts for those who qualify and coach.

Of particular squads. The Under 9s are entering the new Gloucestershire league, we will aim to host an Under 7s festival and this season will be the first a Poulton Girls team is run for several years.

Friday evenings will be different this season. We have found an ice-cream van to visit but Peach and Pudding will not be returning, if anyone knows of food trucks or caterers who might be interested in visiting we are all ears! We will also still need volunteers on the bar

It has the potential be another amazing summer at Englands and for any queries of any kind, please refer to the squad web pages and/or email Will on Youth@poultoncricketclub.co.uk or message/call on 07765251951.
