Why Should I Join Poulton?

The above graphs are from our annual surveys and tell a story for the Senior members of the club. In 2021 we have a lot to work on in terms of member satisfaction, so we focused on this in the Winter of 2021 and delivered a far better club for our membership in 2022 at a rate that the vast majority of our membership believe is good value.

As a senior member in 2023, you can expect more of the same. We are investing in our Englands pitch using Willow Turf Care as our Groundsman to hopefully continue the restoration of our wicket to one of the finest in the county. We have two fully enclosed new practice nets installed by Durant Cricket and a Pavilion with showers, a bar and kitchen.

The club will be stepping up fundraising activity in a big way in 2023 holding a Golf Day, Quiz Nights, a Beer Festival and several social events throughout the season as we move to put the club on a surer footing but enjoying the social aspect of these events. Key dates for the season are all published on the Club Calendar.

How Much Does It cost?

The Club is a registered charity and membership donations are expected at £100 for Senior members although Ladies are at £60. These do no result in a right to use the facilities and we charge match fees on top at £5 per game. Student/Unemployed membership is also available as is spreading the donations over several months. Please get in touch with the Membership Secretary if you would like to find out more about these.

When Do You Train & Play?

Training takes place on Thursday evenings at the Englands ground under the supervision of our First XI Captain and Level 2 Coach, James Newman.

The senior Saturday teams play at a variety of levels namely GCCL Division 1, 7 and CDCA 2. Our Ladies play in the CDCA evening league and there is a Wednesday T20 side in the CDCA trophy as well as a friendly Sunday Side, so no matter your ability, we have cricket for you.

What Are Your Targets for 2023?

We have already touched on a few above but these are Investment in Englands and our Pavilion as well as the second pitch we use at Ampney Crucis, growing our senior squad and promotion for the Second XI as well as maintaining the 1st XI in GCCL Division 7. There is also going to be a significant amount of time and energy investing in re-invigorating our Youth Section, fundraising and Club Socials.

Why Should I Bring my Child to Poulton?

The above graphs are from our annual surveys also tell a story for our youth section with our parents confirming satisfaction with our youth coaching. This is all handled in house by our eight Level 2 and two level 1 coaches with all support staff DBS checked. We are compliant with the ECB's Safe Hands Management System and are an ECB Clubmark Club.

Our aim is a youth pathway for boys and girls to learn the game and develop at their own pace. We want to run playing squads at the Under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 19 levels equipping players with cricket skills in a fun and safe environment and enabling them to move between teams/squads as their ability and desire allows.

How Much Does It cost?

The Club is a registered charity and membership donations are expected at £60 for Under 11s-19s. This goes towards the cost of training coaches, coaching equipment providing wickets and balls for youth matches. For Under 9s and Under 7s playing soft ball cricket the membership donation is expected at £40.

Family memberships or rates for more than one child are available so please contact the club for information on this either via the Contact tab in the menu at the top or emailing PoultonMembership@gmail.com

When Do You Train & Play?

For the 2023 season training for Under 7s through to Under 13 inclusive will take place on a Friday evening at the club while Under 15s and Under 19s training will take place on a Thursday before and then with the senior section. Games will depend on age groups. Girls can also train on a Wednesday evening ahead of our Ladies team.

What Are Your Targets for 2023?

For the Youth, the goals are sorting out our Under 7s & 9s squad numbers and coaching to proper squads, integrated full into the club with coaches and parents as members We also want to arrange more games for our Under 15s in 2023 aware that this section really struggled to find opposition within the CDCA League structure in 2022.

We are looking at equipping our youth with versions of our club kit from Gray-Nicolls as well.

After focusing on batting coaching in 2022, we’ll have a renewed focus on fielding and bowling in the 2023 season and also train additional coaches so that our new Friday night coaching sessions are properly supported by a variety of coaches. We will limit squad/training numbers this year to protect coaches and ensure good sessions for our youth.
