Poulton has sides to cover all ages of a young player's development with squads and fixtures for under 9s, under 11s, under 13s, under 15s and under 19s throughout the summer, along with an excellent Allstars & Dynamos programmes and very successful summer holiday cricket camps run by ECB Level 2 coaches.
In addition to this, when ready, the young members of our club have for many years formed incredibly important parts of all our senior teams and the ethos of our Sunday side is that young players will always get a bat or bowl as this team forms the basis for a young players introduction into Senior cricket.
The youth section of the club has always been the strength of the club and we routinely have 100 young players a season coming for coaching. We welcome all new players to the club no matter their age or ability and hope to attract players from the local and East Gloucestershire area.
We have ambitious development plans and are looking to capitalise on the success of our Ladies team to grow our girls offering. For the 2022 season, One of our level 2 coaches will run Girls only coaching sessions throughout the week at varied times and at no charge so that local girls can try the game for free to see that it really is a game for them too. Details of these can be found by joining our Spond Junior Section App or contacting the club on the email at the bottom of this page.
The ethos at Poulton is to maintain high coach to child ratios so that our young players get the best possible experience from their membership of Poulton namely enjoyment of the game, a pathway into the county squads and/or our Senior weekend teams. We also have two safeguarding officers within the club.
Early in 2022, the new coaching team will meet to slot the teams into the correct distruct and/or county youth leagues for the 2022 season We will also confirm the coaching team for each age group with this announced on this website. We hope to be able to call on Eight Level 2 (now called Core Coaches) and several level 1 (recently modified to foundation) coaches to guide our youth members through the 2022 Season. In addition as part of the ECB's safehands procedures, all club officials and volunteers who come into contact with children are required to be DBS checked ahead of the new season.
For the parents & guardians of young cricketers we know that the demands of authorisations and administration are bigger than they have ever been. In response to this the "Information for Parents" button to the right of this page along with other links that will take you to the relevant library of information we are building. This includes all our club policies including the Safeguarding of Children and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us
