Senior Cricket at Poulton

 

Poulton offers cricket to members in three Saturday League sides, a Midweek XI and Sunday XI. While these sides are all mixed, offering cricket to any member based on selection, our senior section also includes our dedicated Ladies XI. Training for the Senior sides is on a Thursday evening at Englands and anyone looking to join the club or simply come along and find out more is welcome . Poulton's Ladies XI plays other Ladies sides in the Cotswold & Disctrict League. The team has shown incredible growth in the last few years and boasts several members in the county age group squads. AS laid out in our club development plan, the goal for ladies section is to capitalise on growth potential, keep more girls in the sport and offer more formats of girls and ladies cricket in the future. The Captain for the 2022 season is Philippa Dunn. 

Poulton's 1st XI is Captained by Liam James for the 2022 Season. The 1st XI play in the top division of the Gloucestershire County Cricket League are they are targeting a top four finish for the 2022 season and is on the look out for new players. 

Poulton's 2nd XI now play in Division 1 of the Cotswold and District League and are targeting a return to the County League in the 2023 Season. Jake Harris is the Captain for the 2022 Season. The team is a feeder team for the 1st XI but needs to close the gap with our top league side and plans to do this over the next few seasons

Poulton 3rd XI play in the Cotswold and District League 2nd Division are Captained by Mark Leadbeater.  This team offers the first step on a player's pathway to 1st and 2nd XI cricket  The main objective of the team is to provide competitive senior cricket for our young players in a safe and secure environment.  All players will be encouraged and given the opportunity to play a role in every game whether that be batting or bowling.

Our Sunday XI plays friendly games offering our youth, their first experience of the longer format of the game in a completely friendly and safe environment away from the pressures of a league result. This side also ensures that anyone not selected to a league side on a Saturday has an alternative game to play.  

Finally the club has a Midweek XI which plays in the local district T20 league on a Wednesday.
